Boris Garcia       borisgarcia.com

Boris Garcia isn’t a person but a band, an ensemble that starts with what is called jamgrass – “We’re all folkies at heart,” remarked one band member – but also fuses a dozen strands of American music into a rich, ever-evolving whole. Bluegrass, jazz, rock, folk, Celtic, soul, blues – you can hear them all. It is a band that didn’t even start out to be a band, merely a recording project. But once these old acquaintances started making music together, the music created its own momentum; they played for a friend’s party, and realized they were a band, and haven’t stopped since.

The BBP are all natives of Waynesboro, PA and long time companions through music and otherwise. Their original music is a unique blend of bluegrass, country and folk music. Creating a fun musical outlet, with acoustic instruments. This was the initial goal but with their success as a local party band in the spring of 2007, they quickly realized that friends and fans were anticipating more. The positive musical vibe was irrefutable. As sure as the Antietam cuts through the Mason Dixon, the band began to breach their own musical boundaries. They set forth to write and tailor their music so that the BBP would persistently perform new material with an old down home approach. Also to ensure every show remained exciting and fresh.

Desolation Angels       desolationangels.moonfruit.com

Once, long ago, on a cold and desolate morning, an un-nameable baby was born. No one was quite sure what to call this certain child of exceeding singularity. His eternally lopsided soul spent much time bouncing off the walls, wreaking havoc and unable to be called upon, before someone thought to shout out "Rock & Roll!" He left home shortly after, and never returned. If you’re one of the 4000+ people who have seen Desolation Angels, you know what it must have been like to gaze upon this un-damnable hellion, this ragged rapscallion rogue, and think to yourself, "Just what in tarnation exactly do we call this creature?" That’s because Desolation Angels never went to the house Rock & Roll left behind to make it their base of operations. They have no desire to, like infinity, go up on trial forever on the walls of it’s halls. (Which is why you’ll see their smiles mirror everyone’s on the dance floor at their shows; ones of exuberant ill concealed ecstasy widening into a much broader variety than that of the Mona Lisa’s.) Instead they set out to run wild like that beatnik on the road, seeking the spirit of freedom, like Jack Kerouac. And whether you call him Dean Moriarty or Neil Cassidy, it’s still the same soul that moves them.

On their last two tours, the question most often heard was "What type of music is this?" No one ever seemed to have the same reply. But don’t wait for them to come to a town near you, head out on the road to find them and figure it out for yourself. But if you’re still not convinced, you should know that they just finished their second tour with Melvin Seals, Stu Allen and JGB and have played with the likes of Phil Lesh, Dark Star Orchestra and Sam Kininger. And this is just the beginning…
